HitchHikers Guide to the GalaxyA game written by the author of the original books - all his style, but not quite the same. One of the best.
Spider and WebA futuristic spy story that won a lot of the Xyzzy awards (one of the two interactive fiction gaming awards). Most of the game happens in flashbacks. Everybody seems to like this one.

All RoadsA supernatural-suspense-espionage-thriller. It won 1st place in the interactive fiction competition (yes, there is one, and yes, they are still having them) in 2001.
BalancesAnother game by the great Graham Nelson. This one is a sequal to the Enchanter trilogy. Its a short game.
